Unique shared equipment is not used daily by the majority of LSC researchers because the research applications are so very specialized. Often, unique equipment was prohibitively expensive for an individual lab or single department to buy/own, so the LSC or RII agreed to share in the cost of that purchase. Because costs have been shared between departments and user numbers are constrained by specialized need, unique equipment housed in the LSC is intended for broader usage by Mizzou’s research community. With prior agreement, the LSC’s unique equipment can be included in grant proposals.
